Street Number One
a film by Oliver Päßler
Synopsis
In East Berlin in the 70’s the Rathauspassagen behind Alexanderplatz were used as a socialist archetype. What was unusual at that time was the combination of residential space for 900 people with social facilities and exclusive stores to support a humanistic community. STREET NUMBER ONE allows old, new and former residents tell their stories about their search for an ideal community in a totalitarian system and their fate in German society today.
